AI Week 2026
Human agency in the age of artificial intelligence
Carlos Simpson will contribute to Digital Leaders AI Week 2026, an online programme bringing together speakers and perspectives on the development, adoption and implications of artificial intelligence.
His talk, Human Agency in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Why Identity, Judgement and Decision Capability Matter More Than Ever , is scheduled for 22 October 2026 at 5:00 PM.
The session examines a question that becomes increasingly significant as AI systems enter professional and organisational decision-making: what human capabilities need to be developed and preserved when technology can generate, recommend and predict at increasing speed?

Human Agency in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Why Identity, Judgement and Decision Capability Matter More Than Ever
Strategic Design & AI
Design, judgement and human capability
Artificial intelligence can accelerate research, generation and production. But greater technological capability also increases the importance of determining what is meaningful, appropriate and worth pursuing.
For design practice, this distinction matters. Generating an option is not the same as making a judgement about it. Prediction is not the same as authorship, and computational capability does not remove human responsibility for the decisions that shape an outcome.
Carlos Simpson's work across strategic design , research, mentoring and human development examines this relationship between technological capability and human agency.
CARLOS SIMPSON™ Design Studio
Human-centred thinking within strategic design
At CARLOS SIMPSON™ Design Studio, strategic design is treated as more than visual production. It involves interpretation, decision-making and the development of coherent systems that help organisations communicate clearly and act with greater consistency.
As AI becomes more present within creative workflows, the studio continues to examine how emerging tools can support practice without replacing the human judgement, context and responsibility required to make consequential design decisions.

Continuing the conversation
The AI Week contribution forms part of Carlos Simpson's wider exploration of how artificial intelligence is changing creative practice, leadership and decision-making, and what people and organisations need to preserve as AI becomes more embedded in professional life.
The official recording will be added to this article when it becomes publicly available following AI Week 2026.
